New vintage clothes shop coming soon to Wapping Wharf

By Zoë Crowther  Wednesday May 22, 2019

Something Elsie is opening at Cargo 2 in Wapping Wharf in early June, showcasing the unique and eclectic style of founder and vintage-lover Kate Seymour.

Kate specialises in sourcing colourful and boldly patterned clothing from the 80s and 90s.

Having developed a passion for vintage collections during a film and TV course, Kate moved to Bristol six years ago and started selling retro clothing at the Tobacco Factory Sunday market.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Something Elsie currently operates as a pop-up within Casper on North Street.

“My love of vintage probably goes back to my gran who had amazing fashion sense,” explains Kate, who will be opening Something Elsie in the converted shipping container previously occupied by Temple Cycles.

“I have always loved searching for unusual pieces and I get a real buzz out of finding quirky clothing that will make people smile. Plus, as we all strive to be more sustainable, buying second hand is ethically a sensible choice.”

Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade, the developer behind Wapping Wharf, added: “It’s really important to us that we create a complimentary mix of businesses, so we carefully hand-pick the new additions to the area.

“We feel Something Elsie is a perfect fit, helping to grow the independent shopping offer here at Wapping Wharf.”
