By Andy Leake  Saturday Nov 23, 2024

Despite rain and strong winds, there was a large turn out to Trans Pride Bristol’s Community Day.

On Saturday, organisers gathered at College Green where speeches were made from various activists.

Crowds then paraded through Bristol City Centre, ending at Castle Park.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

After the parade, Trans Pride Bristol put on an afternoon of stalls and workshops at The Station on Silver Street.

Sabrina Jones, a representative of Trans Pride Bristol, said: “Trans Pride is important because our rights are constantly under attack.

“Our right to transition is constantly under attack. Whether it’s out in public, in the workplace (or) in the healthcare system, we are constantly under siege.

“This happening even now, and we have to do something about it.

“Come rain, or shine, we will be out on the streets and we will demand better for the trans community.

“Bristol is a loving and accepting city with a diverse range of voices. But even then, my friends and siblings know hate crimes and discrimination are still a problem here.

This march is just the start, it’s step one in turning up for trans people and making sure there’s change for the better.”
