Want to buy one of Bristol’s most famous pubs?
It may be one of Bristol’s most historic and well-known-pubs, but in recent years the Llandoger Trow has been somewhat down on its luck.
The King Street pub, thought to date back to 1664, was Robert Lois Stevenson’s inspiration for the Admiral Benbow in Treasure Island.
But for many years it has suffered from under-investment and now its owners Whitbread have confirmed that they will be closing the pub on April 20 and putting the business up for sale.

A spokesperson for Whitbread, which owns the Premier Inn next door to the Llandoger Trow, said: “We can confirm the Llandoger Trow Brewers Fayre will be closing on April 20 and the property will be put on the market.
“We understand the Trow is a much-loved Bristol landmark and it is being marketed as a going concern, but it is rather different from the rest of the Whitbread estate.”
Whitbread will be opening a new restaurant, Bar + Block Steakhouse, on the corner of King Street and Welsh Back, at the end of April.
