New cafe and bar from Chido Wey team
A new Mexican-inspired cafe and bar promising the “best brunches” in Bristol is preparing to open soon.
Tocayo, from the team behind Chido Wey, will take up the site of 25a Old Market just a few doors away from its sister venue in Old Market.
For nearly a decade, 25a Old Market was known for lighting up this corner of the neighbourhood with local produce, delicious coffee and frequent events.
Owner, Claire Moyne took over the spot from Chris Williams who is now the general manager at one of Bristol’s most loved bakeries, Farro.

On Sunday, Tocayo will host an invite-only soft launch before opening its doors to the public on Monday.
Within the new space will be a special pop-up by Clifton-based Mexican grocery store Otomi.
Chido Wey opened in October 2020 with the idea of bringing “bold flavours, colours and creativity” to Bristol as a celebration of Mexico.
Since then, hungry diners have flocked to the place to taste their burritos, tacos and other Mexican specialities.

Announcing their “younger sister” on their website, Chido Wey said: “Opening right next door, Tocayo will serve up Bristol’s best coffee and brunches.
“Stop by to experience the same flavours, the fun, and the atmosphere that make Chido Wey more than just a meal.”
