Hart’s Bakery to give new businesses a helping hand

By Martin Booth  Wednesday Apr 18, 2018

Before her bakery and cafe at Temple Meads became one of Bristol’s best places in the city for food and drink, Laura Hart sold her wares first from the back of a bicycle and later from a trestle table set up outside Planet Pizza on Gloucester Road.

Appreciating how difficult the first few months can be for independent businesses, Laura and her team at Hart’s Bakery are now offering space on their forecourt for startups less than a year old to showcase their goods.

Starts at Hart’s will be hosted at the bakery on the first Saturday of every month, with up to four businesses able to meet potential new customers every week – with Hart’s offering them all a gazebo, tables and as many hot drinks are needed to keep them going throughout the day.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

Laura said: “We wouldn’t be here without a lot of help and support in the early days so we would like to pass that generosity on.”

Businesses who would like to take part should email [email protected] telling telling her a bit about themselves and why they would like to have a pitch.

Hart’s Bakery opened at Temple Meads in 2012 and recently expanded into the neighbouring arch
