10 Bristol pubs turned into mini supermarkets

An estimated two UK pubs a week are being converted into mini supermarkets. Accompanying our feature on this worrying trend, here are some of the pubs in Bristol that have been lost in recent years:

1. The Standard of England, Southmead
Converted to a Tesco Express in 2011

2. The Bell, Congresbury
Demolished and rebuilt as a Tesco Express in 2011 despite a petition by local residents to stop it happening

3. The Bell, St George
Converted to a Tesco Express in 2012

4. The Lord Rodney, St George
Demolished, and rebuilt as a Co-op 2013

5. The Royal Oak, Portishead
Converted to a Tesco Express in 2013

6. The Wayfarer, Brentry
Being demolished and will be replaced by Co-op and shops

7. The Wingrove, Keynsham
Converted to a Co-op and flats in 2013

8. The Foresters, Westbury- on-Trym
Converted to a Tesco Express in 2013

9. The Parkway Tavern, Stoke Gifford
Converted to a Co-op in 2014

10. The Farriers Arms, Fishponds
Boarded up and owned by Morrisons with an uncertain future
