Cosy up in Bristol cafes this winter

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday Dec 14, 2021

Winter has undoubtedly arrived in Bristol, so it’s a good job that our city has a superb selection of cosy cafés – ideal for escaping the cold this Christmas.

Whether you’re out on your own or with friends and family, Bristol City Centre BID has rounded up a selection of the snuggest independent cafés for you to relax in after a long day of Christmas shopping.

Mrs Potts Chocolate House

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

On Park Street sits this delicious little independent café specialising in chocolate delights. Opt for a slice of their classic three-layered heaven cake and wash it down with a Chocolate Chai, made from roasted cocoa beans steeped in chai spices. Alternatively, grab yourself a milkshake made with local Marshfield’s ice cream and Bruton Dairy milk.

Beacon and Bristol Loaf have teamed up to transform the newly refurbished space on the Lower Ground Floor. Bristol’s award-winning bakery – behind some of the best bread and baked goods in the city – serves up excellent Scandi-inspired breakfasts, lunches, and sharing boards, accompanied by speciality coffee or delightful natural wines from Native Vine.

Bristol Folk House

Tucked away on Park Street is the relaxing Folk House café. This relaxed and friendly space offers delicious food cooked with the team’s ethical suppliers’ best locally sourced ingredients. Their inviting menu consists of mixed salad plates, homemade tarts, toasties, and soups. Most meal deals include a thick slice of their famous, freshly made bread with butter – perfect for a cold wintery day!

Each day their super fresh seasonal food is made from scratch, so whether it’s for breakfast or a lazy weekend brunch or lunch, any time of day is an excuse for a cosy coffee and cake.

Their coffee is expertly-made by their skilled and passionate baristas, and it’s the team’s mission to redefine expectations of how coffee and a bite to eat will make you feel. Their creative menu takes inspiration from cities across the world and is always made from ingredients they are proud to use sourced from suppliers they are delighted to work with.
