Butlins Minehead embraces live music weekends

By Laura Williams  Monday Jan 26, 2015

Following the sad departure of All Tomorrow’s Parties at Butlins Minehead, the Somerset holiday resort – just south of Bristol – has upped its live music game and is now host to a wide range of big weekends as well as BLOC on March 13-15 and Southport Weekender on May 8-10.

First up, was Giants of Rock (Feb 6-9), which saw rock veterans Black Star Riders, Slade and The Yardbirds joined by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band, The Quireboys, Magnum, Eddie and the Hotrods and more.

Bloc takes over Butlins next month, with Jon Hopkins, Modeselektor, Autechre, Jeff Mills, Dean Blunt, Ben UFO, Joy Orbison, The Advent, Ben Sims, DJ Funk, DVS1, Robert Hood and loads more. It’s run in association with a number of organisations, including the Bristol-based publication Crack.
