New festival to take over popular street
A music festival will transform a popular shopping street as it hosts its first outing.
North Street Sounds will run on June 5 and 6, and will feature live performances and DJ sets in venues spanning North Street.
The festival has been developed by two local business owners, Katy Kennedy from Spirited and Mike Fenlon from LUPE, both of which are bars and live music venues.
Kennedy said: “We wanted to create something which celebrates the amazing music scene of Bristol and the wonderful, local independents all along our street.
She said the festival would bring “something new and creative for the North Street summer calendar”.

This year will be the first year of North Street Sounds and its creators have hopes to expand in the future. They plan for it to take place across a whole weekend and involve more independent businesses if this year is a success.
Fenlon said: “North Street has such an incredible mix of local people, businesses and creativity. We want to bring that all together and celebrate this wonderful street whilst encouraging people to discover places they may never have been into.”
The line-up will feature the Sam Paul Band and the Slimline Shufflers in venues including The Malago and Flour House.
