Viktor the Vegetarian Vampire
In Bristol, it seems that vegetarianism is spreading so well that even vampires are getting in on the action. However, it doesn’t seem to suit all lifestyles.
Clifton author Rachel Adams has written about a vegetarian vampire, Viktor. Poor Viktor though doesn’t seem to fit in in his world. He would rather watch gardening programmes than scary horror movies, and isn’t keen on blood, even when his mother, Evelina, orders it on-line from Veinsbury’s.
Little by little, Viktor manages to turn his life around from being a lonely outsider to becoming the most popular young vampire in his school. But things really take off when he meets a human girl, Maggie, who feels as lonely as he did.
Adams spent 30 years as a teacher and headteacher in local Bristol schools such as Hotwells Primary and Sefton Park Junior School. Now that she has retired she has turned to writing books for children that are thought-provoking.
