‘Exploring the stories’ of lost species
Dressed in black from head to toe, a small group gathered on Castle Park for the International Remembrance Day for Lost Species.
Organised by Extinction Rebellion Bristol, the protest was held to “explore the stories” of already extinct or critically endangered species, cultures, lifeways and ecological communities.
The action was intended to resemble a funeral procession for such species that have been lost or are at high risk.
One placard displayed photos of pangolins, elephants, tigers and apes – all of which are believed to be “facing extinction”.
Holding placards and chanting slogans, the group marched in a short procession, ending the event with a short eulogy for all the lost species.
