Originally released in 1970, John Waters‘ recently restored ultra-low-budget second feature is a pleasingly filthy feast of depravity shot on location in his native Baltimore.
Divine stars as Lady Divine, proprietor of a travelling show called the Cavalcade of Perversions, who’s out for blood after discovering that her lover has been unfaithful. The transgressive fun includes a rosary shoved up Divine’s arse (in church, obviously) and a once seen, never forgotten lobster rape sequence.
