Yellow bikes take to streets of Clifton Village

By Bristol24/7  Friday Aug 19, 2016

We’ve had gorillas, Gromits and Shauns. Now, dozens of yellow bicycles are forming Bristol’s latest sculpture trail.

The bikes in Clifton Village are on show to promote a giant screen that will be broadcasting live coverage of the Tour of Britain when it spends a day in Bristol on Saturday, September 10.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

The 19ft by 11ft screen will be erected on Gloucester Row at the top of the Mall facing Christchurch Green.

Funded by BID Clifton Village, it will show live footage from 10am to 5pm, covering the morning time trials and afternoon road race.

The Downs will host both the start and finish of the races, with competitors cycling over the Clifton Suspension Bridge to Leigh Woods before heading down to Bower Ashton, travelling along Coronation Road and Cumberland Road, onto Hotwell Road, the Portway, up Bridge Valley Road and back to the Downs.

“We have an incredible opportunity as Bristol is  hosting two stages of the race  so we are inviting everyone to make the most of the occasion by putting on a full day’s entertainment for visitors,” said Tony Miles, organiser of the Clifton event.

The morning time trials in Bristol start from 10am and will be followed by a six-lap, 75km circuit race in the afternoon from 2.30pm.
