Whiteladies Picture House to reopen in May

The new Everyman Cinema on Whiteladies Road is due to open as early as next month.

A tantalising glimpse inside the former Whiteladies Picture House has been revealed online, with the words “Watch this space” attached to the photograph on Everyman Cinema’s social media accounts getting cinephiles’ tongues wagging.

The cinema chain will redevelop the landmark building into a new three-screen cinema as well as five flats to help finance the plans.

The 96-year-old building has lain empty since 2001. In its new incarnation, Everyman promise a “broad lineup of films and events as well as our great food and drink”.

Remember to look at the film not the ornate ceiling in screen one
