Phone network for older people launches

By Laura Collacott  Monday Feb 29, 2016

The UK’s first mobile phone network aimed at serving older customers has launched in Go Mobile stores across the South West.

Fuss Free Phones provides a telephonist-based concierge-style service, accessed at the press of a single button on a Doro mobile phone, specially designed with large buttons to be easy for visually impaired and elderly people to use. Answered immediately by specially trained, friendly telephonists, customers can ask to be put through to their friends and relatives, for a text message to be sent and replies read back, or request help to find something on the internet. It is designed to help older citizens stay connected without having to take on confusing modern technology.

The network also offers a free no-nuisance calls service, the first on any mobile network. This allows customers to receive calls only from their contacts, with all other calls directed to the call centre telephonists first. Calls are vetted, with scam and spam calls terminated and genuine callers put through to customers.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!

Simon Rockman, founder of Fuss Free Phones, said: “Older people have always been overlooked in the mobile phone market, which is entirely geared towards the young tech savvy generation.

“Our network is for those people who want to keep in touch with friends and family but do not wish to engage with ever more complicated phones, or struggle using a mobile with lots of extra features available. They just want their mobile to work for them.”

Steve Fraser, managing director of Go Mobile said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Fuss Free Phones. With this new service we are bringing together the excellent range of Doro feature phones with a network that is quite simply demystifying mobile phones for a huge proportion of the population. Fuss Free Phones is easy to use and secure, and that’s what our customers have been asking for.”

Customers choose the Doro phone they want, starting at £30, and then pay a fixed £20 per month (or £220 for a whole year) for 24/7 telephonist service, no-nuisance calls, 130 minutes per month and unlimited texts.
