Film and TV studio outlines expansion plans

By Charlie Watts  Tuesday Jun 13, 2023

Industry professionals and investors have backed expansion plans for a film and TV studio in north Bristol.

Patchway Studios, which opened last year to meet the significantly increasing demand for studio space in the South West, offers 100,000 sq ft of flexible production space.

Production company Bad Wolf has already produced the forthcoming adaptation of Bernard Cornwell’s The Winter King for ITVX at the site on Highwood Road.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

The studio, which is run by SG Capital Partners, is the first project of an international studio investment strategy with plans to expand to other sites in the UK and Europe.

Further investment is planned to quadruple its capacity over the next four years.

Industry experts Poppy Gordon Clark, Monty Till and and James North have been appointed to Patchway Studios’ advisory board, to help establish it as a “creative hub with excellent transport connectivity”.

Sam Glover of SG Capital Partners said: “Patchway Studios provides a solid base for world-class talent by providing flexible space suitable to house even the most ambitious productions.

“It’s hugely exciting to be fielding enquiries from a wide range of production projects looking to work in this wonderful part of the UK.

“Poppy, Monty and James are a welcome addition to the team and we are excited to work with them as we move forward with our international studio investment strategy.”
