Black South West Network hosts Covid recovery support event

By Ellie Pipe  Tuesday Apr 20, 2021

Sole traders, small business owners, taxi drivers and those working in the voluntary sector are invited to an event focusing on supporting economic recovery.

Hosted by Black South West Network and delivered by Bristol City Council, the webinar on April 27 will cover the latest Covid-19 update and grant support available, with opportunity for a Q&A session.

The event will also feature guest speaker Joshua Rees, the founder and director of Bristol Community Development Finance (BCDF), a not-for-profit social enterprise supporting local businesses to access simple and affordable business loans.

EatDrink24/7 Launch Party is back on July 8 2026!
Exclusive collabs from Bristol’s favourite food vendors, available for one night only. Be first to grab your free copy of the EatDrink24/7 guide – plus every ticket comes with a free limited-edition beer can.

As part of its Enterprise Accessibility programme, BCDF says it wants to make entrepreneurial opportunities inclusive and accessible to communities that are often underrepresented in business.

This year, the social enterprise has committed to offering free one-to-one support to Black business owners looking to invest in their venture, informing them of their options and walking them through the steps necessary to be awarded the funding they need.

The aim is to also support clients in identifying appropriate financial solutions, developing their ‘investment readiness’ and creating a business plan and cash flow forecast as part of a business proposal.

The event will take place from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on April 27 and is free to attend. Register via www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/covid-business-recovery-support-update-tickets-149875211793?mc_ci
