Experimental 5-piece Flamingods have cultivated a technicolour sound quite distinct from any other contemporary artist. Originally from Bahrain and Dubai but eventually colliding in the UK, its members have absorbed the influence of many different cultures, playing instruments from Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, Turkey, Japan and Tanzania in a wild flourish of self-determined psychedelic songwriting.

Taking influence from a range of Asian and African styles of playing, as well as the psych pop/rock music of artists such as Boredoms, Animal Collective, Sun Araw and Deerhunter, they received very positive reviews for their first album ‘Sun’ (2013). However, the UK changed its visa laws and Rasool had to leave the country following his graduation from university. Despite his relocation to Dubai, closely followed by Prest, the band continued to collectively write music remotely, trading ideas online. Their second album ‘Hyperborea’ (2014) earned them widespread critical acclaim, including a spot as The Guardian’s ‘Band of the Week’, and third album ‘Majesty’ (2016) was released on Soundway records to praise from all camps. They frequently perform at festivals in the UK and around the world.
