In the 1980s, Englishman in New York Jude Law persuades his American wife Carrie Coon (who you may recognise from The Leftovers and the third season of Fargo) to relocate to a big ol’ house in rural Surrey. Here, things start to unravel as ambitious commodities trader Jude’s determination to become a bigshot and transcend his working class roots leads him to make some reckless decisions.

Sean Durkin‘s long-awaited follow-up to Martha Marcy May Marlene is a subtle psychological thriller that skilfully dodges genre cliches and coaxes terrific performances from its two leads.
