Filippo Meneghetti

Running Time
95 mins

Nina Dorn (Barbara Sukowa) met Madeleine Girard (Martine Chevalier) on holiday in Rome and they quickly became lovers. Decades later, these septuagenarians are still devoted to one another. But they’ve managed to keep their romance a secret, posing as neighbours and close friends. Until, that is, an unforeseen event leads to Madeleine’s daughter uncovering the truth about their relationship.

Filippo Meneghetti‘s feature debut has received universal praise. As The Guardian‘s reviewer remarked: “How refreshing to watch a film in which the sexuality and desire of women in their 70s is portrayed not as a novelty but simply part and parcel of their lives; and since this French movie is a lesbian drama, there’s two of them – even better.”

The Watershed’s screenings are presented as part of the Queer Vision film festival.
