A bunch of happy young Muscovites are overjoyed to move into their shiny new identical state subsidised apartments, only to find that a combination of greedy officialdom and shoddy workmanship is causing their dream high-rise to fall apart. This sprightly 1963 Soviet musical is adapted from the Shostakovich operetta of the same title (it translates as ‘Cherry Town’).
