The Turning

Director
Floria Sigismondi
Certificate
15
Running Time
94 mins

Another film adaptation of Henry James‘s The Turn of the Screw? You’d need to be pretty confident to invite comparisons with Jack Clayton’s 1961 classic The Innocents. This long-gestating version of the venerable ghostie story was originally to be directed by Steven Spielberg. Instead, he takes a producer’s credit and has handed over the reins to pop video director Floria Sigismondi, who’s best known for her Runaways biopic.

Shot in Ireland but set in Maine, this updated version stars Mackenzie Davis as the governess hired to look after orphan duo Finn Wolfhard (of Stranger Things fame) and Brooklynn Prince at a sprawling, spooky and quite possibly haunted estate.
