The Bird with the Crystal Plumage/The Driller Killer

Director
Abel Ferrara, Dario Argento
Certificate

Running Time
192 mins

Brighten up your Sunday lunchtime with this splendid ’70s psycho double-bill. First up is Dario Argento’s directorial debut, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage: a stylish, tautly constructed ‘spaghetti slasher’ flick, in which a mysterious figure clad in a shiny black PVC raincoat and black leather gloves chops up beautiful young women.

Then it’s time for Abel Ferrara‘s cult slasher Driller Killer, in which a troubled fella (played by Ferrara himself) hits the streets on a murderous rampage armed with his handy battery-powered drill. There’s a 30 minute break to get your breath back – or visit B&Q – between films.

This screening is part of the Blood + Homage: The Cinematic Obsessions of Yann Gonzalez season.
