Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children + WWII Tour

Director
Tim Burton
Certificate
12A
Running Time
108 mins

Having wisely sat out the none-too-successful Alice Through the Looking Glass, Tim Burton followed his relatively low-key Big Eyes with a return to more familiar lavish fantasy territory. It’s adapted by Jane Goldman of Kick-Ass fame from US author Ransom Riggs‘s creepy illustrated novel about 16-year-old Jacob Portman (Asa Butterfield), who listens to his grandpa’s eccentric tales about the eponymous island orphanage. When the old geezer croaks in mysterious circumstances, he leaves a bunch of clues that set the boy off on a time-travelling quest to find Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) and her supernaturally gifted charges, who are under threat from a bunch of creepy monsters. Burton’s top-notch cast also includes Judi Dench, Samuel L. Jackson, Allison Janney, Rupert Everett and Terence Stamp (in the granddad role, obviously).

This screening at Arnos Vale Cemetery will be preceded by a tour of the Cemetery’s war memorials and family graves. Go here for tickets.
