Totterdown’s Old Picture House hosts this multimedia event co-ordinated by veteran poet and activist on violence against women Gill Hague (pictured above, left, with Nazand Begikhani). The film component comprises a selection of short films and poems by the late Maya Angelou. There’s also poetry about women in Uganda, India, Greece from Gill; poetry by video about women in the Middle East and Iraqi Kurdistan, by renowned Kurdish poet Nazand Begikhani; and poetry by local poet Rachel Bentham. All this plus Native American flute by Dave Merrick. The event is in aid of TreeSisters and Uganda’s Mifumi (domestic violence project).
