Puccini’s evergreen opera about Japanese geisha Cio-Cio-San’s doomed romance with American naval officer Pinkerton. Cultural imperialism ahoy!

Recorded back in 2014, Handa Opera’s outdoor spectacle is performed on the huge water stage, suspended over the harbour against the backdrop of the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Japanese soprano Hiromi Omura portrays tragic Cio-Cio San, with Georgy Vasiliev in the role of Pinkerton.
