Anders Thomas Jensen reunites with his favourite actor Mads Mikkelsen after the enoyably oddball Man and Chicken for this darkly humorous arthouse vengeance flick which packs rather more emtional depth than the genre usually permits.

Mikklelsen plays stoic military man Markus, who returns home to his daughter after his wife Emma (Anne Birgitte Lind) is killed in a train crash. It then emerges that the crash was no accident, sending Mads off on what we might term the Liam Neeson trail. But as Rolling Stone‘s reviewer observed: “The understated, deadpan delivery makes it possible for the film to be both a homage to the vendetta-Daddy genre exemplified by Taken and its ilk, and a complete subversion of its core philosophy: that a man can somehow rewrite the injustices of the world, especially those visited on his womenfolk, if he only has will enough.”
