Pandora’s Box

Director
G.W. Pabst
Certificate
PG
Running Time
109 mins

G.W. Pabst’s erotic silent classic, for which twenties icon Louise Brooks beat Marlene Dietrich to the role of the amoral Lulu, who unleashes uncontrollable, self-destructive desires in men and women alike. But it’s her female lover, Countess Anna Geschwitz (Alice Roberts), who’s credited with being cinema’s first lesbian character. Naturally, our libidinous heroine cannot go unpunished, so she eventually falls victim to none other than – ulp! – Jack the Ripper while working as a prostitute in London.

The Curzon’s screening is presented by South West Silents
