Cinema Rediscovered: Eight Hours Don’t Make a Day
- Director
- Rainer Werner Fassbinder
- Certificate
- 15
- Running Time
- 720 mins
That running length is no misprint. Rainer Werner Fassbinder‘s landmark five-part 1973 TV series really does run to nearly eight hours and Cinema Rediscovered is offering a rare opprtunity to see all of it in one marathon sitting as part of its Workers Unite! strand.
Fassbinder’s mini-series tells the story of the Krüger family, their lovers, in-laws, friends and co-workers. In particular, it follows toolmaker Jochen (Gottfriend John), his new girlfriend and his fellow workers, with whom he bands together to improve conditions on the factory floor. The screening is introduced by Watershed Cinema Curator Mark Cosgrove.
