Bristol Film Festival: Sicario

Director
Denis Villeneuve
Certificate
15
Running Time
121 mins

Denis Villeneuve, director of the brilliant Incendies, casts Emily Blunt as an idealistic young FBI agent in this searing drug cartel drama set on the US/Mexican border.

After demonstrating her mettle by whacking a bad guy during a raid, she’s recruited as the first female member of a secret government task force whose mission is to decapitate an evil clan. Josh Brolin is its leader and Benicio Del Toro makes the most of his mandatory casting in these dramas as a dodgy, world weary ‘consultant’. Needless to say, things soon get very murky indeed and our heroine is suitably alarmed when she finds out what’s really going on in the ‘war on drugs’. Go here for out full review.

This Bristol Film Festival screening takes place in Redcliffe Caves as part of the fest’s Underground Cinema season. Go here for tickets and further information.
