BFI London Film Festival 2021: The Tragedy of Macbeth

Director
Joel Coen
Certificate
TBA
Running Time
105 mins

Working without his brother for the first time in his career, Joel Coen gives the ‘Scottish Play’ a fresh lick of paint – in monochrome 4:3 format.

Naturally, Frances McDormand is cast as the scheming Lady Macbeth, while Denzel Washington plays her haunted hubby. Celebrated stage actress Kathryn Hunter does all the witches, the lustrous cinematography is by Bruno Delbonnel and designer Stefan Dechant is responsible for the striking sets.
