BFI London Film Festival 2021: The Souvenir Part II

Director
Joanna Hogg
Certificate
TBA
Running Time
106 mins

Brit writer/director Joanna Hogg earned much well-deserved praise when she cast Tilda Swinton’s daughter Honor Swinton Byrne in this perfectly observed, ’80s-set drama about Julie, a posho Knightsbridge-dwelling film student whose bohemian lifestyle is bankrolled by mummy (Tilda Swinton, obviously).

This sequel picks up where the first film left off, with a devastated Julie returning to her parents’ home to grieve after the death of her lover and her discovery of his secret life. You’ll be pleased to know that Richard Ayoade‘s memorably insufferable director is back too.
