After Jackie, Pablo Larraín tackles another Iconic Historical Woman with this enjoyably preposterous, self-styled ‘fable from a true tragedy’ centred on a miserable Christmas weekend at Sandringham in 1991.

Kristen Stewart earned rave reviews for her compelling performance as Princess Di in this pleasingly unreverential (and, indeed, occasionally bonkers) drama, scripted by Steven Knight, which reworks the familiar story as ‘Princess Diana – the horror movie’ – as The Times put it.
