Actor and theatre director Yûsuke (Hidetoshi Nishijima) and his TV screenwriter wife Oto (Reika Kirishima) have complex relationship which is jolted by a sudden dramatic event that takes place while he’s casting a production of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya.
Expanded from a short story by Norwegian Wood author Haruki Murakami, this intimate and powerful if somewaht lengthy story unfolds, as the title implies, mostly during car journeys. The Guardian‘s five-star review described it as “an engrossing and exalting experience.”
