Now 60, Mary Hussain (Joanna Scanlan) converted to Islam when she married and lives quietly in Dover with her husband, Ahmed (Nasser Memarzia). But his sudden death is followed by another surprise when she discovers that he had a secret life just 21 miles away across the Channel in Calais. Now she finds herself compelled to travel to France to find out more.
After Love is the debut feature by Kent-born English-Pakistani writer/director Aleem Khan, who was named one of Screen International‘s Stars of Tomorrow and whose short film, Three Brothers, was nominated for a BAFTA award.
