An iconic movie of the ’80s or a feast of adolescent whining, according to taste. Five American teen stereotypes – the punk, the swot, the jock, etc – are thrown together in Saturday evening school detention, where they drone on about their many prah-blems and conclude that their parents are to blame for everything. To make matters worse, there’s an authentically awful ’80s soundtrack featuring That Bloody Simple Minds Song. “The Big Chill served up again for the Simple-Minded set,” sneered Time Out.
Still, there’s sone fun to be had in playing ‘whatever happened to..?’ the late John Hughes‘s cast of bright young things: Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Ally Sheedy, etc.
