In one of his most commercially successful films, Harold Lloyd plays a millionaire who’s suitably aghast to find that he’s inadvertantly sponsoring a mission. Then he finds himself smitten by do-gooder Brother Paul’s (Paul Weigel) lovely daughter, Hope (Jobyna Ralston). There are plnety of great gags along the way and it all leads to a fabulous comic chase.
This Slapstick Festival screening amid the grandeur of Bristol Cathedral in introduced by film historian Kevin Brownlow and includes shorts from Laurel & Hardy and Anita Garvin & Marion Byron. Your host is Infinite Monkey Cage (Radio 4) co-host, stand up comedian and writer Robin Ince. There’s also live musical accompaniment from the European Silent Screen Virtuosi featuring Günter A. Buchwald, Frank Bockius, Romano Todesco and Marc Roos.
