Bristol Film Festival: Passport to Pimlico

Director
Henry Cornelius
Certificate
U
Running Time
84 mins

Now with added Brexit resonance, this Ealing comedy charmer celebrates cosy wartime smalltown togetherness as the inhabitants of Pimlico discover that they are, in fact, part of Burgundy and promptly declare independence. It’s mildly irreverent and entertaining, with a few well-aimed barbs and a terrific performance from Margaret Rutherford, but never quite as satirical as you might have hoped.

This Bristol Film Festival screening in Averys’ wine cellar will be accompanied, appropriately enough, by two Burgundy wines. Go here for tickets and further information.
