Lonely, middle-aged Tokyo office worker Setsuko (Shinobu Terajima) is persuaded to join an unusual English class run by John (Josh Hartnett). He introduces her to role play and before long she’s turned into her carefree, blonde-wigged American alter ego, Lucy. But when John disappears with her niece, she heads off to the US to track them down.

Atsuko Hirayanagi’s bittersweet comedy launches this year’s ever popular Japan Foundation Touring Film Programme.
