The Cannes Camera d’Or winning first feature by Ildikó Enyedi, who went on to enjoy great critical success with On Body and Soul, My Twentieth Century is a surreal period comedy of orphaned twin girls whose lives take divergent paths. One becomes the pampered msitress of a powerful man, while the other turns into an anarchist activist with a bagful of bombs. Both women and their mother are played by Dorotha Segda.
This Cinema Rediscovered screening in the Women on the Periphery strand is the UK premiere of the digitally restored 4K version. It’s introduced by Tara Judah, Watershed Cinema Producer and Cinema Rediscovered co-curator, and Dr Peter Walsh of South West Silents
