Winner of Best Director and Best Actress at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, Anahi Berneri’s drama charts a few days in the life of young Buenos Aires mother and prostitute Alanis (Sofia Gala Castiglione) – whose real name is Maria – revealing the hypocrisy of laws that are supposedly in place to protect her.

It’s screened to conclude the ¡Viva! Spanish & Latin American Festival 2019 Tour, which returns to Bristol after a 10 year hiatus with a programme centred on woman in global cinema.
