Yellow Submarine Singalong Screenings

Director

Certificate

Running Time
90 mins

Apart from popping up at the end, The Beatles actually had little involvement in this 1968 film, which was the first animated feature to be made in the UK for 14 years. The story has the Fabs piling aboard Captain Fred’s yellow submarine and racing off to free Pepperland from the music-hating Blue Meanies. It’s all suitably psychedelic, melding a variety of different animation styles, with director George Dunning’s Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds being the standout. Trivia note: one of the credited writers is Erich Segal of Love Story fame.

This 50th anniversary reissue is restored in 4K with 5.1 surround sound. These singalong screenings are part of the Anim18 UK-wide celebration of British animation.
