Superb, Oscar nominated, dialogue-free hand-drawn animation from first-time feature director Michael Dudok de Wit, who was chosen for the task by world-renowned Studio Ghibli.

It’s the story of the battle for survival of a man who finds himself washed up on a desert island. The Arnolfini’s screening is part of the Shorts2Features strand of the Encounters festival. Michael Dudok de Wit will also be presenting his Desert Island flicks later the same evening and will be back to talk about the making of The Red Turtle at the Watershed on Saturday 23.
