BFI London Film Festival 2021: Flee

Director
Jonas Poher Rasmussen
Certificate
TBA
Running Time
83 mins

Amin Nawabi, a friend of filmmaker Jonas Poher Rasmussen, tells the extraordinary story of his journey from a happy childhood in Afghanistan to his escape from war-torn Kubul and his current life as a successful, openly gay academic in Denmark.

Produced by Riz Ahmed and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, this mostly animated documentary was described by The Guardian‘s reviewer as “a remarkably humanising and complex film, expanding and expounding the kind of story that’s too easily simplified.” Judges at the Sundance Film Festival agreed, giving it the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary.
