It’s the dead futuristic world of 1997 and Manhattan has gone so far downhill that even Woody Allen doesn’t live there anymore. In fact, it’s now a prison ghetto full of feral bad guys, where president Donald Pleasence has just been taken hostage. Only eyepatch-wearing Kurt Russell can save him in this enjoyable slice of John Carpenter hokum.
