Bristol Bad Film Club: Action U.S.A.

Director
John Stewart
Certificate
18
Running Time
97 mins

The other BBFC return to fulfil your post-lockdown cheese needs with a feast of VHS-era action with stuntman-turned-filmmaker John Stewart’s 1989 action romp, which has recently been restored in 4K. The ‘story’, if you must, is as follows: “After her boyfriend is murdered by the gangsters whose diamonds he stole, a girl is protected by two FBI agents who plan to keep her from sharing the same fate.” But what the film actually delivers is fast cars, helicopter chases, profanity, nudity, cocaine-ity, fisticuffs, stolen diamonds, FBI agents, defenestration, shotgun castration, men on fire and Casio soundtracks. Not enough for you? How about  sunroof gunfights, a car jumping over a school bus packed with screaming children, honkytonk brawlin’, bathroom kissin’, plus exploding cars, houses and recreational vehicles?

Capacity is limited for this first post-lockdown Bristol Bad Film Club screening, so the film will also be streamed online. The first night sold out really quickly, so a second one has been added. Go here for tickets and further information.
