Slapstick 2020: Clowning with the Classics
From Frankie Howerd donning a toga and issuing forth with the prologue in Up Pompeii, to the Monty Python team deploying Greek philosophers in an Olympiastadion International game of football, some of our best-loved comedians have embraced and generally mucked about with aspects and perceptions of the Classics.
Join learned writer and comedian Robin Ince, Senior Lecturer in Art & Visual Culture at Bristol University Dr. Shelley Hales and Britain’s foremost comedy historian Robert Ross in an archive-plundering discussion on this fascinating thread of humour.
This event replaces the previously billed Natalie Haynes: Slapstick Classics which has been cancelled due to unforeseen work commitments.
Jan 25, Watershed, 4pm, £5-£10. For more info, visit www.slapstick.org.uk/event/natalie-haynes-slapstick-classics
