Many of our readers tell us they want a cleaner, more streamlined way to enjoy Bristol24/7’s independent journalism. Today, we’re thrilled to announce that ad-free browsing on our website is now a reality.
We’re therefore very happy to introduce our Bronze Membership, one of the latest tiers in our growing membership community. For just £3 a month – about the price of a coffee – you can enjoy:

Why we’re doing this
The truth is, times are tough for everyone. As a Community Interest Company, we’re proud that all our journalism remains free for everyone to read. That’s central to our mission. But being a small, independent media organisation means we rely on advertising and membership support to keep going.
With the rising print costs and the challenges facing independent journalism, our core revenues have not been able to keep up. Recently, we’ve had to start running more programmatic and video adverts on our site to keep our heads above water. We know that these are the ads that many of you have found intrusive.
We’re now at a critical point:
- More than 300 local magazines closed across the UK in the last decade
- In that time, Bristol24/7 has not made any profit, as we reinvest everything we make into our independent journalism and social impact projects
- Our costs for this financial year have increased by 50 per cent since 2023
- We need to reach £5,000 in monthly membership revenue by the end of 2025 to keep our work alive.
Advertising helps fund our newsroom and also fuels the social impact projects we run throughout Bristol; initiatives that make a real difference to people and communities across the city. All our profits are reinvested into our journalism and into these projects, so every pound supports something meaningful.
For readers who prefer a cleaner, distraction-free experience, the Bronze membership offers an easy and affordable option. You’ll just need to log into the website and all ads will magically disappear!
