Banks holds bazooka and downs tequila on campaign trail

By Martin Booth  Thursday Apr 24, 2025

“Bazooka trained on the Labour, Green & Lib Dem goons that have wrecked this city. Boom!”

So tweeted Arron Banks following holding the replica weapon on a visit to the Three Lions pub on St George’s Day.

In one of his few appearances on the campaign trail, the Reform candidate in the West of England mayoral election also drank a tequila behind the bar of the pub on West Street with landlady Lesley Donnelly.

“Nice to meet the regulars!” tweeted Banks.

“4pm usually a bit early for Tequilla (sic) shots, not at the 3 lions. Met loads of lovely armed forces veterans & Bristol city fans!”

Banks has been invited to but not turned up to several hustings including one on Wednesday organised by various voluntary sector groups.

In response to a Financial Times commentator predicting a Lib Dem win on May 1, Banks tweeted: “Stop smoking pot!

“Those limp wristed, Museli (sic) eating, sandal wearing, soft Lib Dem’s in Bath might vote for you but Bristol is turning light blue! I’m feeling confident!”

“Great time at the Three Lions pub in Bedminster,” tweeted Arron Banks. “Reform is surging big time & Labour should be very scared!” – photo: Arron Banks
