Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
All the gang return - along with Cher - for a sequel to the hit Abba jukebox musical
As the cinema industry picks itself up and dusts itself down after a miserable few weeks, the hit Incredibles 2 is now joined by a big summer sequel aimed at a different audience: the self-explanatory Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Barely giving us time to draw breath, Tom Cruise pitches up on Wednesday (or very, very late on Tuesday night at some multiplexes, if you’re especially keen) with Mission: Impossible – Fallout in 2D and 3D.
If none of that appeals, you may be interested to know that Mary Shelley, which has Bristol’s very own Maisie Williams in a supporting role, finally shows up at the Watershed two weeks after its national release. Catering for all tastes this week, the ‘shed also has two contrasting true-life dramas: The Receptionist, set in an illegal London massage parlour, and grisly prison pugilism flick A Prayer Before Dawn.
Starting on Thursday with brand, spanking new prints of Maurice and The Apartment, the annual Cinema Rediscovered celebration of classic and restored films makes a welcome return for its third year.
